This page is for travelers who have already booked their lodging and are now sorting out the practical details: where to buy groceries, whether you need cash, where the nearest hospital is, and whether your cell phone will work at Antelope Canyon. Page is a small town — roughly 7,500 people — and the services available reflect that. Most of what you need exists, but the hours are shorter than in a city, and some things require planning ahead.
Before You Arrive
Book these before your trip:
- Antelope Canyon tours: Upper Antelope often sells out weeks ahead in summer. Lower and Canyon X have more flexibility, but reservations are still required.
- Houseboat rentals on Lake Powell: Minimum three-night rentals in peak season. Book months ahead.
- Hotels in summer: Page has roughly 15–20 properties. Weekends in June through August fill up.
Bring these with you:
- Cash: Small bills for Antelope Canyon guide tips ($5–$15 per person), Navajo Nation permit fees, and some remote vendors. Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and major stores, but cash is essential for tips.
- Closed-toe shoes: Required for Antelope Canyon and recommended for Horseshoe Bend and hiking trails.
- Water: More than you think. The desert air is dry, and most activities are exposed.
- Sunscreen and a hat: The sun is intense at 4,300 feet, even in winter.
Time zone warning: Page follows Mountain Standard Time (UTC-7) year-round and does not observe daylight saving time. The Navajo Nation does observe daylight saving time, but Antelope Canyon tour schedules follow Page time. Confirm the local time before your tour.
Getting to Page
Page Municipal Airport (PGA) has limited commercial service. Most visitors fly into one of these airports and drive:

Getting Around Page
Page is not a walkable destination for tourists. The main attractions — Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell marinas — are spread across a 15-mile radius and require a vehicle. Downtown Page itself is compact, but there is no public bus system.
Ride-share: Uber and Lyft do not operate in Page. A few local taxi services exist, including Lake Powell Taxi Services, but availability is limited and prices are higher than in a city. If you are staying at a hotel near Lake Powell Boulevard, you can walk to some restaurants, but you will need a car or tour transport for everything else.
Tour pickups: Many guided tours — including Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and day trips — offer hotel pickup in Page. Confirm whether your tour includes this when you book.
Gas and Vehicle Services
Fill up before you head to remote trailheads or day-trip destinations. The nearest gas station to many attractions is in Page itself.
- Pilot/Flying J Travel Center: 101 W Glen Dr; (928) 353-4821; Open 24 hours; Gas, diesel, convenience store, showers, RV parking. This is the most reliable 24-hour option.
- Sinclair: 205 S Lake Powell Blvd; 24-hour fueling at the pump; Convenience store has limited hours.
- Other stations: Several additional gas stations line Lake Powell Boulevard and North Navajo Drive, most open 6 a.m.–10 p.m.

Diesel: Available at Pilot/Flying J and select other stations. If you are driving a diesel RV or truck, confirm availability before leaving Page for remote areas — not all stations carry diesel.
Groceries and Supplies
Walmart Supercenter is the main full-service grocery store in Page. It is located at 1017 W Haul Road, open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The store carries groceries, camping supplies, sunscreen, over-the-counter medications, and a pharmacy. Pharmacy hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday; call (928) 645-2622 for current prescription services.
For travelers staying in vacation rentals or houseboats, Walmart is where you will buy the bulk of your food and supplies. There is no Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or specialty organic market in Page. If you have specific dietary needs, stock up in Flagstaff, Phoenix, or Las Vegas before you arrive.
Smaller convenience stores exist around town and at some gas stations, but prices are higher and selection is limited.
Medical Services
Page Hospital (Banner Health): 501 N Navajo Dr; (928) 645-2424; 24-hour emergency room; 25-bed acute care facility; Level IV Trauma Center. This is the only hospital within a 50-mile radius. It handles emergencies, surgery, imaging, obstetrics, and cardiopulmonary care. For serious trauma, patients are stabilized here and transferred to Flagstaff or Phoenix.
Canyonlands Urgent Care: 440 N Navajo Dr; (928) 645-1700; Walk-in clinic; Open 7 a.m.–7 p.m. daily; Closed for lunch Saturday and Sunday 12:30–1:30 p.m. This is the best option for non-emergency issues: minor injuries, illness, prescriptions, and travel-related medical needs. No appointments.
Lake Powell Medical Center: 467 Vista Ave; (928) 645-8123; Appointment-based clinic; Monday–Friday 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m. For primary care, chronic conditions, and follow-up visits.
Page VA Clinic: For enrolled veterans; primary care and specialty services.
If you are visiting from outside the United States, confirm that your travel insurance covers emergency care in Arizona. Page Hospital accepts most major insurance plans, but out-of-network charges can be significant.
Money and Banking
Credit cards are accepted at virtually all hotels, restaurants, and major stores in Page. However, cash is essential for:
- Antelope Canyon guide tips ($5–$15 per person, cash only)
- Some Navajo Nation vendors and permit fees
- Small purchases at remote trailheads or roadside stands
- Laundromats
ATMs are available at Walmart, most gas stations, and some hotels. There is no standalone bank branch in Page open to the general public for walk-in services. If you need to conduct complex banking, do it before you arrive.
Cell Service and Connectivity
Verizon has the strongest coverage in the Page area, with service in town and at most major attractions. AT&T also works well in Page proper. T-Mobile has improved but still has dead zones between town and remote trailheads.
However, all carriers lose signal in specific areas:
- Inside Antelope Canyon: No cell service in the slot. Communicate with your group before you enter.
- Remote trailheads: White Pocket, Alstrom Point, and some Grand Staircase-Escalante access roads have no service.
- Lake Powell: Cell coverage drops once you are more than a few miles from the marinas.
Most hotels and the Carl Hayden Visitor Center at Glen Canyon Dam offer free Wi-Fi. Do not rely on streaming or video calls from remote areas.
Laundry and Long-Stay Services
Laundromats exist in Page, though specific locations and hours change. Ask at your hotel front desk for the nearest option. Some hotels have coin laundry for guests.

Fresh water fill stations are available at Wahweap Marina and some campgrounds. Do not assume tap water at remote trailheads is safe to drink.
Restaurants and Dining
Page has a mix of sit-down restaurants, fast food, and coffee shops. Most are clustered along Lake Powell Boulevard and North Navajo Drive. If you have an early Antelope Canyon tour, you will need breakfast before 7 a.m. — options include Ranch House Grille (opens at 6 a.m.) and Rustic Thistle. There is no food at Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon Dam, or most trailheads. Pack snacks and water if you are spending a full day outside town.
What to Know About Navajo Nation Land
Several major attractions near Page — including Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, and Waterholes Canyon — are on Navajo Nation land. The rules differ from federal or state land:
- Guides required: You cannot enter Antelope Canyon or most other Navajo slot canyons without an authorized Navajo guide. Self-entry is trespassing.
- Cash for tips: Tour guides expect cash tips. $5–$15 per person is standard.
- No drones: Drones are prohibited on all Navajo Nation land, including at Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley.
- Photography permits: Personal photography is allowed on standard tours. Commercial photography — images you plan to sell or publish for profit — requires a separate Navajo Nation permit.
- Respect: Do not remove rocks, plants, or artifacts. Do not climb on ruins or rock art. Follow your guide's instructions.
