One day in Page is enough for the two most famous attractions — Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend — with time left for a quick stop at Glen Canyon Dam or a shoreline walk at Lake Powell. It is not enough for a boat rental, a houseboat trip, or any day trip farther afield. The key is an early start and tight logistics.

This itinerary assumes you are staying in Page or arriving by 7:00 a.m. If you are driving from Las Vegas or Phoenix, you would need to leave by 2:00 a.m. to make this work — which is not realistic. One day in Page is best for travelers who spent the previous night in Page, Flagstaff, or Kanab.

What This Itinerary Includes

• Antelope Canyon: The headline attraction. Lower Antelope is recommended for one-day visitors because it is less expensive and less crowded than Upper, and the light is good at any time of day. If you specifically want light beams, book Upper Antelope for 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and adjust the morning schedule accordingly — but this compresses the rest of the day significantly.
• Glen Canyon Dam: A logical stop between Antelope Canyon and lunch. The visitor center is free, the bridge walk is free, and the dam tour is only $5 if you have 45 minutes. It orients you to the geography of the area.
• Horseshoe Bend: Late afternoon is the best light for photography and the most comfortable temperature for the exposed hike. The overlook is open until sunset. If you are not interested in photography, any time of day works — but midday in summer is genuinely uncomfortable.
• Lake Powell (optional): If you finish Horseshoe Bend early and want to see the water, the Wahweap Swim Beach or Antelope Point day-use area is a 10–15 minute drive from Page. You will not have time for a boat rental.

What This Itinerary Does Not Include

• Lake Powell boating or kayaking (requires a half-day minimum)
• Rainbow Bridge (6–8 hour boat tour)
• Any day trip to Monument Valley, Zion, Bryce, or Grand Canyon (all require 2+ hours of driving each way)
• White Pocket (1.5 hours each way on rough roads)
• Lees Ferry (40 minutes each way)
• A second Antelope Canyon section (Upper + Lower would consume the entire morning)

Variations

If You Cannot Get Antelope Canyon Reservations

Replace the Antelope Canyon block with one of these alternatives:

• Waterholes Canyon guided tour: Similar slot canyon experience, often available on shorter notice.
• Horseshoe Bend at sunrise + Glen Canyon Dam + Lake Powell shoreline: A free, self-guided morning with no reservations required.
• The New Wave: A short, permit-free sandstone photography walk near Page.

If You Have a Late Start

If you cannot start until 10:00 a.m. or later, skip Glen Canyon Dam and do Antelope Canyon (if reserved for late morning) followed by Horseshoe Bend in the late afternoon. Do not try to add a third major stop — you will run out of daylight and energy.

If You Are Traveling with Young Children

Children under 5 are not permitted in Lower Antelope Canyon or Canyon X. Book Upper Antelope (ground level) or replace the canyon with Horseshoe Bend (stroller-friendly left branch) and Lake Powell beach time.

Logistics

• Vehicle: You need your own car or a rental. There is no public transportation between these attractions.
• Gas: Fill up the night before. The 24-hour Pilot/Flying J is at 101 W Glen Dr.
• Water: Bring at least 2 liters per person. The Antelope Canyon tour and Horseshoe Bend hike are both exposed.
• Cash: $10–$15 per person for Antelope Canyon guide tips. Small bills.
• Reservations: Antelope Canyon must be booked in advance. Horseshoe Bend and Glen Canyon Dam do not require reservations.
